Virtualization has been around forever, but you could argue that use of virtualization grew considerably in 2007.

WAN optimization is also a big one. Packeteer is in this arena and they teamed with Microsoft a couple of years ago and now have a really good product called iShared. Basically it makes working in a remote office seem like you’re right there at the data center with the speed that it serves files. No more clicking a file, taking a smoke break, and coming back to watch it open. It’s much faster now!
