what computer technology is used in gaming systems?

I’m currently writing a paper on computer technology on the topic of gaming. Any ideas where to begin?. Anything would help to get me started. Thanks

    ooo gosh so many technologies are used in gaming systems… there physics,graphics, generators, etc… I mean ooo so many… unless ur talking about hardware… then its just graphics card obviously….

    I’m not sure exactly which “technologies” you are referring to. The video card, hard drive, DVD / Blu-Ray drive, USB ports, etc… are all very similar to ones found on a standard PC. The original Xbox, especially, was a modified PC.

    The software “technologies” are also very similar. The same techniques are used in video rendering; the game engines are frequently ported to and from the PC with little trouble, etc… Linux can be run on modern consoles, very similar to PCs.

    Graphics processors from nvidia and ati and system processors from IBM.

    Like the PS3 had its processor developed by ibm….and the nintendo gcube and wii use ati….
